If you're reading this, someone you know handed you a way into Mycelion. There are no rules here — this isn't that kind of place. But there are a few recommendations, and following them makes it far less likely you'll ever lose your account.
Creating bot accounts to multiply invitations is the one thing that gets the whole branch banned — you and everyone you brought in. And if you're not a member yet: don't buy an invitation from anyone. Get one from a friend. Invitations aren't for sale, and anything sold is a trap.
When you invite someone, you're vouching for them. Pass them only to people you trust, and never post an invite link where a stranger could grab it.
Matrix chats here are end-to-end encrypted — private by default. E-mail isn't; it travels in the open once it leaves us. For anything sensitive over mail, use GPG.
Your mailbox works everywhere, but it's built for talking to other members. Sending to the outside world runs through a limited relay — keep it for what matters, and keep the everyday chatter internal.
One password opens your mail, your Matrix account and this portal. Make it long, make it yours, and don't reuse it from somewhere else.
Mycelion runs on machines we own and maintain — not rented from a corporation, not sitting in a data center where strangers hold the keys. Your mail and messages stay where no one else can reach them. The trade: a home-run service isn't a flawless corporate cloud, and now and then it may go down or pause for maintenance. Keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose.
There's no moderation team, no report button, no terms of service — just people who trusted each other enough to open the door. Don't be the reason that trust gets harder to give.
